New York-headquartered healthcare data exchange company Datavant has officially opened its Global R&D Centre at Bonham Quay in Galway, marking a significant milestone in the company's Irish expansion after surpassing its near-term hiring target well ahead of schedule.

According to Irish Tech News, CEO Kyle Armbrester made the announcement at the formal opening on 28 April 2026, with the company having already filled 100 of the 125 roles it had targeted for Ireland by the end of next year. The Galway team is responsible for some of Datavant's most critical product roadmap items, spanning platform enhancements, automated record retrieval, and security and privacy development.

Armbrester said the Galway centre is central to the company's global operating model. "The team in Galway is a big part of helping make this vast amount of data actionable to improve health outcomes and reduce costs. Our Galway technology centre is a core part of our strategy to follow the sun and work on solving healthcare's most complex challenges 24/7."

Datavant occupies 15,000 square feet across the top two floors of the Calatrava building at Bonham Quay, with capacity for up to 160 workspaces. The building operates under the One Planet Living framework and is designed to achieve Gold LEED certification, Gold in the WELL Building Standard and Wired Certification.

The company describes itself as the world leader in secure, compliant healthcare data exchange, operating a network of networks in the US that enables privacy-preserving data exchange between life sciences companies, payers and providers. It employs nearly 10,000 people globally.

Datavant announced its intention to establish the Galway centre in March 2025 and has been operating from PorterShed while the Bonham Quay fit-out was completed.
