Swedish medtech firm Amferia enters Irish market through Interchem distribution partnership

Swedish medtech company Amferia has secured a distribution agreement with Interchem (Ireland) Ltd, bringing its peptide-based wound care technology to Irish veterinary professionals for the first time and extending the company's European commercial footprint beyond its established Scandinavian and continental markets.

According to Cision News, Amferia's AMP Wound Dressing is designed to address advanced wound management and bioburden reduction in both small and large animals, with availability in Ireland targeted from Spring 2026. The partnership represents Interchem's entry into next-generation wound care and adds Ireland to Amferia's existing distribution network spanning Germany, Spain and Switzerland.

The launch arrives against a backdrop of growing concern over antimicrobial resistance in veterinary settings, an issue that has intensified demand across Europe for alternatives to antibiotic-based wound treatment protocols.

Amferia's technology centres on a patented hydrogel platform that encases antimicrobial peptides in a protective structure, shielding them from the natural enzymes that would otherwise degrade them within seconds in biological environments. The hydrogel allows the peptides' active structures to remain exposed at the wound site while preserving their efficacy, enabling consistent bioburden reduction across treatment cycles.

Saba Atefyekta, sales and marketing director and co-founder at Amferia, said the partnership connects the company's innovation with a market actively seeking new clinical tools.
