Richard Morton, Managing Director of MatchMedics, has been confirmed as a member of the judging panel for the Private Healthcare Awards 2026, bringing over 30 years of recruitment experience, more than two decades of which have been focused exclusively on healthcare and medical workforce solutions, to the evaluation process.

Morton founded MatchMedics to address one of the most persistent structural challenges facing Irish healthcare: the sourcing and placement of doctors across hospital, general practice, and specialist services for both public and private providers.

That work has required him to develop a practitioner's understanding of how healthcare organisations function under workforce pressure, what sustainable recruitment looks like in practice, and where the gap between institutional need and available supply tends to widen.

His development of new recruitment models and his work supporting international doctor mobility reflect an approach to workforce challenges that goes beyond transactional placement and into the design of longer-term solutions.

Few perspectives on the Irish healthcare system are as grounded in operational reality as that of someone who has spent decades negotiating the interface between clinical need and workforce capacity.

Morton's vantage point, shaped by sustained engagement with healthcare providers navigating recruitment, retention, and service continuity, gives his panel contribution a relevance to the day-to-day realities of private healthcare that complements the clinical and regulatory expertise elsewhere on the panel.

Morton joins a judging panel that includes Karen Charnley of the All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care, Claudia McGloin of The Regenerative Expert Nurse, Caroline Moran of Hibernian Healthcare at Home, Declan O'Callaghan, retired Medical Director, Vishnu Renjith of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Brid Seoighe of Johnson and Johnson, and John Sweeney of HCI.

The Private Healthcare Awards 2026 gala takes place on 2 October 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport. Entries remain open until 3 July 2026.
