New Irish hub aims to fast track health tech from lab to market
A new national initiative is set to speed up the journey from research to real-world impact in chronic disease management. Backed by Research Ireland, the ARC Hub for HealthTech—led by Prof Garry Duffy of the University of Galway—aims to turn cutting-edge academic breakthroughs into scalable, market-ready solutions.
The hub focuses on accelerating medtech innovation in areas such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and neurological conditions, aligning research with industry demands and patient needs. Its mission is clear: shorten timelines, cut translation gaps, and drive economic and clinical value through smarter collaboration between universities, clinicians, and industry.
With rising demand for chronic care solutions and global competition in health tech innovation, the ARC Hub is Ireland’s bold move to lead, not follow.
