Duality Healthcare is investing £250,000 in a new clinic at 43 High Street, Holywood, creating 10 jobs across clinical and support roles. The clinic opens on Monday 26 October and marks the private primary care provider’s expansion into North Down as its sixth clinic in Northern Ireland.

The new clinic will offer same-day private GP appointments, diagnostic scans and specialist services including women’s and men’s health, minor surgery, blood tests, medicals and ear care. ADHD care will run from assessment and diagnosis through to ongoing treatment and review.

Patients can book in-person appointments or virtual consultations through the company’s UK-wide online service, and the clinic will open Monday to Saturday with late-night appointments available. The 10 new positions will include GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants and administrative staff.

Duality Healthcare has been expanding since 2023 under chief executive John McEvoy and Dr Declan Morgan, with clinics in Belfast, Newry, Omagh, Ballymena and Derry/Londonderry alongside its virtual care service. The group recently opened a new Belfast headquarters as staff numbers passed 100, is ultimately owned by Dr Morgan.

It previously committed £500,000 to its Belfast clinic at the former Deloitte office on Bedford Street.

“We’re grateful to our patients, partners and team, whose support has made this growth possible,” said McEvoy, who described Duality as Northern Ireland’s largest independent primary care provider.

“Holywood is a natural next step for Duality,” said Nicola Herron, chief medical officer at Duality Healthcare. “We’ve built our network on the belief that people deserve to be seen quickly, by the right clinician, close to where they live, and this clinic is a direct expression of that.”

The structural driver is demand for rapid private primary care close to where patients live, delivered through a network that pairs local clinics with a UK-wide virtual service.

For the sector, the Holywood opening confirms that Northern Ireland’s independent primary care operators are scaling through successive clinic openings backed by virtual care.
