Blackrock Health has opened a Specialist Breast Programme at its Women's Health Centre, giving patients rapid access to breast assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing support through a dedicated multidisciplinary team.

The programme was developed in line with National Cancer Control Programme guidance and international best practice, covering the full pathway from referral and diagnosis through treatment, rehabilitation and follow-up care.

The service combines specialist breast surgeons, breast radiologists, breast pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists, advanced nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists and allied health professionals within one integrated model, supported by rapid access clinics, weekly triple assessment slots, open referral pathways for GPs and consultants, and double-reporting imaging protocols. Reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation support are delivered as part of the same pathway rather than through separate referrals.
