Audiology Medical Services, an Irish-owned, family-run hearing care group, has opened a new clinic at The Burnaby Family Practice in Greystones, Co Wicklow. The clinic expands local access to adult and paediatric audiology for people across Greystones and the wider Wicklow area.
Services at the clinic include free adult hearing tests, paediatric hearing assessments, hearing aid consultations and fittings, tinnitus assessment and support, and microsuction ear wax removal.
Microsuction ear wax removal is available from €55 for one person or €100 for two people, with a free adult hearing test included.
Audiology Medical Services was founded in Cork in 2003 by the Lewis family, led by director Charles Lewis, who has more than 43 years’ experience in the hearing healthcare industry. The group is headquartered in Carrigaline, Co Cork, and has expanded nationwide, including clinics in Tralee and Killarney.
As an independent hearing healthcare company, the group is not tied to any single hearing aid manufacturer, offering solutions from cutting-edge devices to more budget-friendly options.
Its audiologists were the first in Ireland to be trained in microsuction ear wax removal and now also use video otoscopy for inner ear analysis.
The clinic aims to support patients experiencing hearing difficulties, tinnitus or concerns about their child’s hearing, with professional assessments and advice available locally.
The structural driver is the group’s model of placing audiology clinics within established medical practices, as at The Burnaby Family Practice in Greystones and Killarney GP, to bring assessments closer to patients’ homes.
The group also specialises in child-centred diagnostic assessment of infants, children and adolescents, and was the first Lyric authorised partner in Ireland, with audiologists trained to fit the 24-hour-wear hearing aid.
Audiology Medical Services was also the first Consultant Approved Hearing Centre in Munster, working with ENT consultants, GPs and other medical professionals through referrals.
For the sector, the opening confirms that independent audiology groups are expanding by placing clinics within established medical practices across Irish towns.
