This award recognises organisations delivering healthcare services in Ireland that demonstrate excellence in integrating fitness, physical activity, and rehabilitation programmes into patient care. It celebrates initiatives that promote prevention, recovery, and long-term wellbeing through structured fitness approaches, improving patient outcomes and quality of life. Entries should showcase innovative, evidence-based fitness programmes or strategies that support patients across the care continuum—from prevention and early intervention to rehabilitation and chronic condition management. Entry is by a 5 A4 page submission (11pt font size minimum); the judges will be looking for clear information backed up by facts, supporting materials, and measurable outcomes, with particular attention to the criteria listed below.

  • Fitness Strategy and Patient Impact: Describe the fitness or physical activity initiative and its purpose. Why was it introduced, and what patient needs does it address? Outline how the programme supports prevention, treatment, or recovery, and its impact on patient health and wellbeing.
  • Programme Design and Implementation: Detail how the initiative was developed and delivered. What methodologies, clinical guidelines, or partnerships were used? Explain how the programme was integrated into healthcare services and how patient engagement was achieved.
  • Innovation and Best Practice: Highlight any innovative approaches, technologies, or models of care used within the initiative. How does this programme demonstrate leadership or best practice in fitness within a healthcare setting?
  • Outcomes and Measurable Benefits: Provide evidence of the programme’s effectiveness. Include measurable outcomes such as improvements in patient mobility, recovery times, physical health indicators, or reductions in healthcare utilisation.
  • Patient Engagement and Feedback: Describe how patient participation and feedback are encouraged and measured. How is feedback used to refine the programme and enhance patient experience and outcomes?
